About GE Stove Repair
GE stove problems typically trace back to diagnosing burner ignition and heating element faults, control knob/switch failures, and oven cavity temperature issues behind uneven cooking or no-heat complaints. GE Appliances has manufactured home appliances since 1907, with especially wide parts availability and long production runs, making even older units serviceable. The GE Profile line adds higher-end features on the same core mechanicals. Our technicians combine that brand knowledge with the specific fault on your unit before recommending a repair.
Certified GE Repair Expertise
GE-trained technicians with deep expertise across all GE and GE Profile models. Parts are widely available for fast same-day repairs. We think that consistency is exactly what a Houston-area household should expect from any vendor it trusts.
Among the recurring issues our technicians diagnose on GE units here in the greater Houston area, ice maker malfunction, compressor issues, control board failure, defrost problems, and water inlet valve failure, and we keep the specific diagnostic tools and OEM parts on hand to resolve each of these quickly rather than guessing. We remain proud to bring that same standard to every GE repair across greater Houston.
Hard water is a real, documented issue across large parts of the greater Houston area, and we've seen firsthand how mineral buildup affects ice makers, water dispensers, and dishwasher components over time, building that awareness directly into how we diagnose and explain certain recurring failures.
Appliance downtime hits differently in a household managing a demanding energy-sector or medical-center work schedule, and we've built our GE repair scheduling specifically around fitting into those genuinely tight windows rather than asking a family to burn a vacation day waiting on us.
We keep our GE technicians current on the brand's evolving smart-home and app-connectivity features, understanding that a growing share of Houston-area households throughout our coverage territory now expect a technician to understand both the mechanical and the digital side of a modern appliance.
We remain in direct contact with GE's own parts distribution network rather than relying solely on generic aftermarket suppliers, which matters most on a newer model where a genuine OEM component can be the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails again within months.

Stove Problems We Fix on GE Models
Surface Element Not Heating
One or more electric stove surface burners is not heating when the control is turned on.
Usual causes: Coil element burned out, Infinite switch (control switch) failed, Surface element receptacle block burned, Wiring connection failure.
Storage or Warming Drawer Not Working
The drawer at the bottom of the stove is stuck, damaged, or the warming function is not working.
Usual causes: Drawer track damaged or misaligned, Warming element failed (warming drawer), Control board not activating warming element, Drawer guide rollers broken.
Anti-Tip Bracket Not Installed
The safety anti-tip bracket that prevents the stove from tipping forward when the oven door is opened is missing or not secured.
Usual causes: Not installed by original installer, Bracket removed during floor cleaning and not replaced, Bracket broken, Stove moved to different location without reinstalling bracket.
Oven Door Problem
The oven door on the stove is loose, falls open, won't stay open at 45 degrees, or won't close fully.
Usual causes: Door hinge worn or broken, Hinge spring broken, Door gasket swollen, Self-clean cycle warping hinges.
Power Cord or Terminal Block Issue
The stove has an electrical issue at the power cord or terminal block.
Usual causes: Terminal block connection burned from loose wire, Power cord end connections overheated from arcing, Incorrect cord type (3-prong vs 4-prong) for the home's outlet type, Terminal block corrosion after years of use.
Burner Indicator Light Stuck On
The indicator light for a surface burner remains illuminated even when the burner is turned off.
Usual causes: Infinite switch not returning completely to off position, Switch indicator circuit not detecting off position properly, Residual heat in element keeping the indicator on (normal until element cools), Wiring fault in indicator light circuit.
Wrong Burner Igniting
Turning on one burner causes a different burner to click or spark.
Usual causes: All igniter electrodes connect to one igniter module — this is normal, One electrode sparking more than the others due to partial debris or moisture, Electrode switches normally connected in parallel so turning any burner can click all electrodes, Faulty igniter module distributing spark unevenly.
Oven Takes Long Time to Ignite
The gas oven igniter glows for 60–90 seconds or more before the burner lights.
Usual causes: Igniter amperage declining — still functional but drawing less current than ideal, Gas pressure slightly low, Gas valve requiring more current to open than the igniter is producing, Oven placed in cold corner of kitchen making igniter take longer to warm.
Broil Element Incorrect Position
The broil element is sagging, bent, or in the wrong position inside the oven.
Usual causes: Element mounting clip broken or missing, Physical impact bending the element, Self-clean cycle thermal stress deforming the element, Attempt to clean element that bent it.
Pilot Light Out (Older Standing Pilot Stove)
The standing pilot light on an older gas stove has gone out and won't stay lit.
Usual causes: Pilot tube clogged with debris, Draft blowing out the pilot light, Gas supply pressure too low to maintain pilot, Thermocouple failure — safety device that shuts gas off if pilot is not lit.
Oven Temperature Knob Not Controlling Oven
Turning the oven temperature knob doesn't activate the oven at all.
Usual causes: Oven thermostat (on mechanical control models) has failed, Oven igniter circuit not connected to the thermostat, Oven knob shaft disconnected from thermostat internally, Thermostat contacts worn and not engaging.
Oven Not Responding to Controls
The oven section of the stove does not respond to any control inputs — no preheat, no function activation.
Usual causes: Control board failure — most common cause, Control lockout feature activated (check if oven is in control-lock mode), Oven section thermal fuse blown, Power supply issue to oven section (partial power loss).
