Appliance Repair in Montrose (77006)

77006 covers most of Montrose, including Avondale, Hyde Park, Cherryhurst and the streets around the Menil Collection. Much of it was built in the 1910s through the 1930s, and the lots are narrow.

Few streets here are all one kind of building. A 1920s bungalow may sit next to a fourplex, a garage apartment and a newer three-story townhome. So a Montrose repair can mean a narrow kitchen in an old house on one call and a tall, vertical floor plan on the next.

Many of the older houses and small apartment buildings have been divided, converted or remodeled more than once. Kitchens are often small, and laundry ends up wherever it would fit: a back porch, a closet, a detached garage. Gas lines and electrical circuits have usually been changed over the years, not always neatly.

Gas ranges are common in these kitchens, and many of the calls are about igniters, burners and ovens that no longer hold temperature. Before ordering a part, we check that the gas supply and the outlet are both working as they should.

In the newer townhomes, the laundry is usually on an upper floor and the kitchen is often on the second level. A leaking washer upstairs can reach the ceiling below quickly, so drain hoses and drain pans are worth checking.
