Appliance Repair in the Fifth Ward and Denver Harbor (77020)

77020 sits northeast of downtown, north of Buffalo Bayou. It includes the historic Fifth Ward, long the center of Black Houston life on the northeast side, as well as Frenchtown and Denver Harbor, which is largely Hispanic.

Much of the housing is small wood-frame houses from the first half of the twentieth century, many raised on piers. In recent years, new single-family homes have been built on empty lots, so an older house and a new build are often side by side.

In the older houses, kitchens are small and the floor often slopes a little. A refrigerator or washer that is not level will vibrate, leak or fail to seal properly. Leveling the unit is often part of the fix.

Laundry is commonly on a back porch or in an add-on room, and many kitchens cook with gas. Burners that do not light, ovens that do not heat and washers that do not drain are the typical calls.

The newer houses usually have standard builder appliances and an interior laundry room. Their problems are more predictable: ice makers, dishwasher drains and electronic controls.

We tell you directly whether a repair is worth it on an older unit. 77020 is in our standard coverage area, and every repair carries our 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty.
