Northeast Houston's older neighborhoods
The 77028 ZIP covers part of northeast Houston inside and just outside Loop 610, including Trinity Gardens and Settegast. These are long-standing, largely African American neighborhoods, with many families who have held the same property for generations.
Houses are mostly small frame and brick homes from the middle of the last century, many on pier-and-beam foundations, set on wider lots than you find closer to downtown. Some streets still drain into open ditches rather than curbs and storm sewers.
Appliances that have been looked after
A lot of the appliances we see here have been kept in service a long time, and owners know their quirks well. We listen to that. A description of how a range has behaved for years often narrows the problem faster than any test.
Gas ranges and gas water heaters are common, and so are window units working alongside central air, which can put more load on older wiring than the house was built for. If a refrigerator or washer trips a breaker, we check the circuit as well as the appliance.
We also keep in mind that some owners would rather keep a familiar appliance running than learn a new one. When a repair is sensible, we say so; when it is not, we explain why in plain terms and leave the decision with you.
Hunting Bayou
Hunting Bayou runs through this part of Houston and has flooded nearby streets in heavy rain. Appliances that sat low during a flood can develop electrical faults later, so tell us if yours was affected.
Repairs in 77028 include our 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty, and cost the same as anywhere else we work in Houston.
