Several old neighborhoods in one ZIP
77009 covers a group of Houston's older neighborhoods north of downtown. Woodland Heights, developed in the early 1900s, sits on the west side near Little White Oak Bayou. East of I-45, the Near Northside stretches along the METRORail Red Line on Fulton and North Main, and Lindale Park and nearby streets lie farther north.
Much of the housing is early twentieth-century bungalows and cottages, many on pier-and-beam foundations. Newer single-family homes and townhomes have filled in lots across the ZIP, especially close to downtown.
Bungalow kitchens and wiring
Bungalow kitchens are narrow, with little space for today's refrigerators and ranges. When the original layout is still in place, the appliance must fit what is already there, and the path into the kitchen matters as much as the opening.
Many of these houses have been rewired in stages. Before we replace a control board or motor on an appliance that keeps tripping, we check whether the circuit can handle it.
Gas ranges are common, especially in the Near Northside, and most of our cooking calls are about igniters, burners and oven thermostats.
Visiting in 77009
Many homes here have laundry on a back porch or in a small addition, and some of the older streets have narrow driveways or none at all. If the laundry area is hard to get to, or parking is limited, mention it when you book.
Every repair carries our 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty.
