The 77008 ZIP takes in most of the Houston Heights north of I-10, along with Shady Acres, Timbergrove and Lazybrook. The Heights began in the 1890s as a planned streetcar suburb, and its older streets are still lined with Victorians and Craftsman bungalows sitting on pier-and-beam foundations.

Mixed in with them now are three-story townhomes and large new builds on subdivided lots. A single block can hold a 1920s cottage and a house finished last year, and the repair work in each looks nothing alike.
